This is the entry point to the pages describing (with photographs) a selection of my more interesting trips around the world.

I’m planning to put up the following:

  • A journey down Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica in 2005, this is considered the right way to do the trip.
  • A “Western Odyssey” consisting of trip from San Diego to Alaska (taking in the Alaska Highway and the Arctic Circle) and then on to Hawaii in 2008.  I could have started further North but where’s the fun in that.
  • A “South East USA” trip which was primarily concerned with getting to the Kennedy Space Centre to see the STS-125 Atlantis launch for Hubble Servicing Mission 4 in May 2009.  The rest of this trip was a leisurely journey up the coast to Washington DC.
  • A “Round the World” trip visiting Tokyo, Sydney, Auckland and Los Angeles in 2012 which proved to my satisfaction that the world is really round.
  • A journey along Route 66 the “Wrong Way” (Santa Monica to Chicago) in undertaken in late 2015 to celebrate ten years since I first drove Route 66

As I usually go on one of these major trips most years there are a number of others that I may eventually add to this site but I thought I’d start with these.
