After my aviation site related tour up the West Coast the next stage was to go from Seattle up through British Columbia and the Yukon to Alaska and the Arctic Circle and then back down by a slightly different route through Vancouver to so eventually to return to Seattle.
There are several parts to this trip:
- A trip around Seattle including visiting the Seattle Underground (no it’s not a railway);
- A visit to some interesting TV related sites to the east of Seattle;
- Travelling through the border area between the USA and Canada;
- A visit to the British Columbia Museum of Flight at Langley BC (I’m afraid that this will not be a totally aviation free set of pages);
- Through British Columbia to Dawson Creek (the start of the Alaska Highway);
- The Alaska Highway all the way from Dawson Creek to Delta Junction;
- The trip from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle;
- A look at the Pioneer Park (also known as Alaskaland) in Fairbanks;
- Travelling the road from Fairbanks to Anchorage;
- The Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry site outside Anchorage;
- The Anchorage Air Museum;
- Travelling from Anchorage back to the Alaska Highway to head back south;
- A look at Carcross (and its desert) enroute to Skagway:
- The journey to Skagway and a look around the town;
- The road south from Skagway back to the Alaska Highway;
- A visit to the gold mining town of Barkerville south of Dawson Creek;
- A brief visit to Vancouver and back to Seattle-Tacoma airport.
